For all of us who enjoy keeping our skin smooth and hairless for weeks at a time, waxing is the way to go! It’s a perfect solution for all your hairier spots, large or small. At A Good Spa Day, we offer extensive waxing services for every furry area that you would prefer hair-free during the holidays season!
A little skin care preparation can go a long way in making your waxing appointment convenient, less painless, and most importantly, effective. Here are a few tips on how to prepare in advance for a waxing skin treatment.
Check Skin
Always examine your skin before the appointment. Broken or inflamed dermis will need time to heal before it’s waxed. Remember to check for moles or beauty marks because they require protection during waxing services.
Next, check that your hair is the right length. It should be just long enough for the wax to grip. Any longer can be painful. A good idea of a perfect length for most areas is about an eighth to a quarter of an inch or roughly three to four weeks of growth.
Keep Exfoliation Light
Exfoliating loosens away dead skin and prevents ingrown hairs, but we advise skipping harsh scrubs a few days before the wax. This process can leave skin more sensitive and make waxing more painful.
Moisturize
Be sure to moisturize in the days leading up to the appointment. It will allow the skin to more easily relax. Never do it on the day of your appointment, because it can coat the hair and interfere with the wax’s grip, rendering your waxing service painful and useless.
Keep it Clean
Especially for sensitive areas, like the bikini wax, keep your skin as clean as possible. Waxing opens the skin up to infection, particularly in areas normally warm or damp. Take special care to keep these areas squeaky clean before waxing.
